Lorraine started dancing at the age of four and over the years completed her medal system in all three dance societies (ISTD, NATD and IDTA). Over her junior and early adult years she also competed in many competitions and team matches nationwide. At the age of 25 she followed in her Mother’s footsteps by qualifying as a Ballroom and Latin teacher and has been teaching ever since. Having qualified firstly with the NATD (National Association of Teachers of Dancing) and then shortly after with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), Lorraine has instructed for various Dance Schools in both London and Essex, teaching all manner of ages, abilities and dance styles.
As well as the Ballroom and Latin, Lorraine is now a Qualified Fitness Instructor, running FitSteps classes (Ballroom & Latin based exercise programme) both privately and through Active Women, a programme run in conjunction with various local authorities and Sport England to provide free exercise within underprivileged areas.
Gwen is Lorraine’s mother, and spent many years running her own successful dance school.
Gwen holds teaching qualifications with the NATD, ISTD and the IDTA, gaining a Fellowship within the ISTD in Latin American, Ballroom and Old Time Dancing.
Gwen is our resident BOGOF (Buy One, Get One Free). She kindly offers her services within our club each week, not only to help new participants to settle in and gain the confidence to go out and take their first few dance steps, but also helping our regular members to perfect their moves. After an introductory lesson from Gwen you will feel confident to join in throughout the evening.
